Over the last two years, the biomaterials group has crowdsourced ideas and inspiration from a mixture of artists and scientists to devise a range of bio-based composite (biocomposite) material concepts. This year, the group focussed on exploring the information space of the most promising material candidates through a mixture of creative and methodical experimentation. This resulted in several prototypes of ceramic-like and concrete-like materials that are much greener than the materials they seek to replace.
