The SMoC explores particle physics through accelerating moss and seed filled soil packages through a network of starch-based bioplastics. To understand the fundamental laws of nature, particle physicists collide objects, like protons, at high energies. By creating energy densities equivalent to the conditions in the early universe, new particles can be created in these collisions. SMoC takes the method of destructive impact testing from material science to explore how something new can be created through a destructive act.
